Good Filipino food. Just like home cooking. I would recommend though that they provide bigger portions

Was looking for a pinoy eats joint in the SL area when we came across this place on Yelp. I remember some friends mentioning to try out this place, so we had to pop in to sample some for ourselves. Did take out on this day since we were headed over to some friends. This place is super tiny, they only have a few dining tables, but it works. Single restroom is actually in the kitchen area. Staff is nice, they helped me order when they told me a dish I wanted wasn't available. National shortage of bittermelon, I know this. Ordered pinakbet, bangus sisig, and chicken adobo. Seriously, this was some of the best pinoy takeout I've ever had. Tasted home cooking. The pinakbet is something I've been craving, but could never make it this style at home. So flavorful and not lacking any vegetables. Must try this dish. Chicken adobo was good, nothing really stood out on this dish. It's fairly easy to make at home and mines tasted similar. I'd try the pork version next time. But the dish that hit it out of the ballpark was the bangus sisig. I'm sure it would have been so nice in the restaurant and eating it immediately. But this was still very delicious. Chopped up bangus meat with onions and spices. They used the skin of the fish as sort of a dressing and bowl for it. So much flavor and could eat this all by myself. For sure, would recommend this place. Be back if in the area. Sorry forgot to take pics!

Ok this hole in the wall Filipino Spot in San Leandro amazes me, I live in San Leandro and not even once I tried there food, so I told myself it's my birthday and our company is paying for the entire order so I decided to place a big order from them. I love their bangus sisig, beef Kaldereta, pinakbet, pancit bihon, lumpia are all amazing, I'm not a fan of their chicken afritada because I feel some ingredients are missing and I'm not a fan of veggie lumpia also bec some of the lumpia are dark But over all I will still order from them and hopefully dine in as well

Parekoy is a tiny little place with about 6 tables. Orders under $20 are cash only, and they do NOT take Apple Pay. They had signs about this on the menu and the walls, so you've been warned. There was one lady working the front and she was polite enough but she did sit on the phone yapping it up the whole time we were there. We were the only ones dining in that night, but we saw several people drop by for take out. We weren't too hungry so we opted to order the pork sisig and beef kaldareta only, along with a bowl of rice. The bowl of rice was actually served in a cute metal pot, but TBH I hated that we paid $10 for steamed rice when we could make a whole pot at home for a fraction of the price. But.. that's the price you pay to dine out lol My bf eats hellaaaa rice so this was the perfect amount for us two but I think it could really stretch between 3- 4 people. The pork sisig comes out on a sizzling platter with a raw egg on top. The lady did warn me to stir right away as the meat will burn but I'm stubborn and had to get my pics lmao We paid the price cause some pieces of the meat definitely did burn haha but it was still edible. They put hella raw onions in this, and some diced jalapenos but they weren't spicy at all. We prefer sisig that's a bit more creamy but if you like a drier, crispier version, this one is will be up your alley. The beef in the kaldareta was soooo tender, like almost melt in your mouth. I was really surprised as they were solid chunks of meat. We asked for it spicy so it had a tiny amount of heat, but we appreciate the effort. The bell peppers and carrots were the perfect texture. FYI - no potatoes or olives in this (I don't eat olives anyways). They sell a home made tamarind candy on a stick for $1.50. The tamarind is really fresh, you'll even find some stems and seeds in it lol It's pretty tart but the rolled sugar balances it out. If you like sweet and sour, this is for you. These are cash only items and they won't add it to your bill if you pay CC. This was our first time here, so we just wanted to try out a couple things. Next time, I'm going for the kare kare pata and the ginataang sitaw kalabasa as those are listed as specials on their board. TBH I don't think I'd dine in again, there wasn't much ambiance and the place is just too small to feel comfortable. BTW - No parking lot, street parking only.

If you haven't been to this place yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO GIVE THEM A VISIT :D This restaurant is a hidden gem on the roads of 14th Street in San Leandro... and I had never heard of Parekoy's until my boss told me ALL about how seared and marinated their Kare Kare was (which, by the way, is one of my FAVORITE Filipino dishes). It is surrounded by quite a bit of shops with empty storefronts, but with it comes lots of sarap and good luck, destined to make your taste buds JUMP into a whole new dimension. When ordering drinks, you DEFINITELY gotta try out the guava juice -- freshly squeezed and, without any doubt, fresh on the cup when you drink it. The guava juice definitely helped my taste pallet -- to enjoy the FULL experience that was given not only to me but also with all my coworkers that were there too. The Lumpia Shanghai and Chicarron Bulaklak definitely was a NEW experience for me -- I thought that it honestly was fried pork fat that MELTED in my mouth, and left a very slick taste. We also ordered their ultra special dish: their Crispy Pata Kare-Kare. The sauce tasted a LITTLE nutty, but that's what I liked about it: the thick texture sauced on top of the Kare Kare is what made it EXTRA unique and unlike any other Filipino restaurant that I've been to. Best of alll, the garlic white rice was probably by far the biggest highlight of all the dishes we ordered -- including the condiments that came with it too. The hospitality of this place is top-notch -- everything was cooked with love, and the owner treated us like family. The environment was also top notch too. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes in the future, but for those of you that haven't gone here yet -- this is a WONDERFUL addition to your staple places to try Filipino food in the East Bay!

Good stuff! I had some free time in the middle of my workday so thought I'd make the drive from the tri-valley to grab some to-go lunch and extra for dinner. They must have a lunch rush because it took me three times calling to get an answer. I was calling at about 12:15 and just waited 5 mins at a time to call back and 3rd call was a charm. I ordered pancit bihon which was very yummy and had a good ratio of noodles, cabbage, chicken, shrimp, and chinese sausage. It lasted me like 3-days. I also ordered the kare kare. Meat was yummy and tender and veggies were also cooked well and not soggy. It comes with a cup of bagoong, but I ordered a second, which was a good amount there two tubs of kare kare. The girl that helped me was also very nice.

Kare kare- I'm biased and like my mom's better since it has a stronger peanut flavor and doesn't add tripe (I don't like tripe unless it's really thinly cut). This one had big chunks of tripe. It's still good though and wouldn't mind ordering it again. Bangus sisig- very good. I'll need to try it dining in to see if the skin is crispy. We took it to go and don't expect it to stay crispy in the to go container. Apritada- chicken was tender and it was an overall comforting dish. Apritada is not my favorite dish. Although I wouldn't mind getting this again, I'd try something different before retuning to this. Pork sinigang- this was great, perfect sourness. I'd get this again. Picked up another order a week later and ordered bangus sisig again and this time got the shrimp sinigang and bicol express. The sinigang broth was consistent with the pork sinigang's. I'm slightly biased towards shrimp so I enjoyed it more than the pork. They don't devein the shrimp but it doesn't bother me much. Bicol express was good too but not as spicy or saucy as saucy as I would have liked. I wouldn't mind getting it again though but will probably try something else first.

Even though I'm Filipino-American, I can't make Filipino food that tastes even a fraction like the stuff my mom and titas make. That said, I rate generously when I find Filipino food out in the wild lol. I dropped by Parekoy Lutong Pinoy (PLP) in October to test out their lumpia. I normally get lumpia catered by Lumpia Company, but my daughter's first birthday party was set to start earlier than their business hours. I don't think PLP delivers, but we're near San Leandro and could pick-up on our way to the venue. There was one table of two seated when I arrived during a weekday lunch, but the woman at the front register quoted me and others who called in to place pick-up orders anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. I balked a little at the time, but it could be because they are short-staffed in the kitchen (it seems small). I ordered regular lumpia shanghai (pork), their lumpia gulay (veggie), and pancit palabok. When the food came out a little under 20 minutes I was overjoyed (what's that they say about under promise and over deliver? lol). I started eating the lumpia shanghai on my drive home and just about finished them. They are a cute, or rather dangerous, size because they are perfect for snacking on; definitely a good party tray option. The lumpia gulay tasted good, but the veggie filling just took on too much oil and ended up being too mushy and oily for my liking. The paper bag they put them in also got soaked through pretty easily so do be careful not to put it down on an uncovered surface. The pancit palabok was also delicious and definitely a step up from what I normally get at Jollibee. Don't get me wrong, I love the Jollibee version, but sometimes you want the full palabok experience will all the fixings and PLP does just that. The other reviews mention a lot of other dishes I'd like to try (e.g., sisig, lechon kawali, etc.) so I will definitely be back. I'll just note to order at least 30 minutes ahead!
